Tenders are invited for Restoration of two sections of the Footpath in Mill Lane from Row down to the wooden Footbridge PL30 4LS

St Breward Parish Council has the opportunity to apply for a grant from Cornwall Council to improve a footpath in the Parish. The Parish Council has decided to focus on the part of Footpath 6, from the road at Row down to the wooden footbridge and is required to receive Tenders in order to complete the grant application.

Therefore the Project will only proceed if the Parish Council is successful with the grant application. The grant conditions require that work will be completed by 02 March 2026

Tenders are invited for the Restoration of two section of the Footpath from Mill Lane down to the wooden footbridge (PL30 4LS) from suitably qualified contractors

Persons wishing to tender for this work must have the required insurance, and be prepared to wear protective clothing where necessary.

Users of chain saws must have the appropriate operating certificate.

A suggested width for a footpath is 1.5 metres with a height of 2 metres.

a. Remove three large patches of tarmac on section of path between the highway and the far end of No4 (last property on the left hand side), as shown. Reinstate with similar granite stone cobbles to match as best as possible, the existing cobbled surfacing.

b. On the section of path below No 4, to the wooden footbridge, take up stone and rocks as much as possible and prepare the area for resurfacing.  Reinstate with similar granite stone cobbles to match as best as possible, the existing cobbled surfacing on the upper part of the path to ensure walkers are able to use the path in all weathers

Note: This section of path currently suffers from a large volume of water discharging through granite hedges and is often impassable due to muddy conditions. Drainage work must be addressed.

Tenders to be submitted by noon 27th September 2025 to:

Anita Cornelius, Clerk to St Breward Parish Council

Postal: Hantergantick St Breward PL30 4NH
